Have you always wanted to write a blog but didn't know where it could be published? If so, you should sign up to be an YNPN-TC blog writer!
We hear all the time from people across the country (and even people across the world!) that love the YNPN-TC blog, so this is a great opportunity to get your name and ideas in front of a whole variety nonprofit professionals.
Still undecided? Here are answers to some of the questions we most often get:
What Would I Write About?
It is up to you. Our bloggers have written about everything from the work lessons they've learned from their cats, dogs, and Harry Potter to why we need to have "uncomfortable conversations" if we want to see change and the class dynamics of fundraising. A full index of our blogs is also available here.
If you're still wanting a suggestion, we first ask writers to consider writing a blog related to one of the four priorities of the YNPN-TC Strategic Plan:
- Innovative Thought Leadership and Sector-Shaping
- Creating Fiscal Sustainability
- Engaged and Mobilized Membership
- Diversity, Inclusion & Access
If none of those topics get your creative juices going, however, feel free to write about anything connected to the professional lives of young nonprofit professionals. Don’t worry; you don’t have to know what you want to write about now, but if you do, please mention that on the signup form.
How Long Does It Have to Be?
We recommend between 400-800 words, but as long as it is great, we accept items above or below that. The editors may make suggestions for things to cut or add. YNPN-TC is also a big fan of gifs, so feel free to "write" your blog in or about them (see the "The Gifs of Leadership" or "10 gifs about why you love YNPN Twin Cities" if you want an example).
Do I Have to Write the Blog All By Myself? What If I Want Help?
YNPN-TC is lucky to have an awesome group of Blog Editors. One of them will reach out to you two to three weeks before your blog’s publication date to remind you and offer assistance. They are happy to read drafts of your work and make suggestions.
When Would I Write A Blog?
We are currently creating a new Blog Schedule that will run from December 2016 to October 2017. By signing up now, you would agree to write one blog in that time frame. When signing up, you can say if there are times that are bad for you, and you can switch later if your time doesn't work.
Where Can I Ask Another Question?
Thank you to all of the people who make the YNPN-TC blog as wonderful as it is, especially our great team of editors (Carly Pentz, Dallas Rising, Derek Hersch, and Emily Pyle) and writers. We (and I) couldn't do it without you.
