If I had to describe my YNPN Twin Cities Board of Directors experience in one movie clip, it would be this clip from This Is Spinal Tap.
A good amount of dry humor, a little nonsensical, totally serious about what we do, and always willing to turn it up to 11.
Serving on the board of YNPN Twin Cities has been the ultimate professional development opportunity. I’ve gotten to plan events that foster connections and conversations, think through how we can engage our members and serve the nonprofit community in the best way possible, and test out governance strategies I’ve been able to put to use in my day job. The people I’ve worked alongside are always thoughtful, frequently hilarious, and unceasingly committed to improving Minnesota and our nonprofit sector.
And now we want you to join this group of incredible leaders.
We’re recruiting new board members for 2016-2017 and I hope you’ll consider applying. You’ll jump head first into writing blog posts, planning events, strengthening our internal governance guts, and envisioning and improving the YNPN-TC member experience.
We want people who get stuff done. The big thinkers. The critical friends. The details people.
In short, we want you.
Applications for YNPN Twin Cities Board of Directors open next Tuesday, September 7. The final deadline for submissions is September 25. We’ll conduct interviews throughout October and notify candidates in November. And then you’ll become an official YNPN Twin Cities board member in January 2016!
If you have questions about joining the YNPN Twin Cities board, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or come out to Board Games with the Board! It’s September 10, 5:30-7:30 at Fantasy Flight Games in Roseville. Chat up our board members while playing board games (although fair warning: some of us can get competitive. Don’t take it personally - we still want you to apply).
This is a chance to turn your YNPN experience up to 11 - and the professional development, networking, career building, friendships, and everything that goes along with it.
Watch for the board application announcement on Tuesday, September 7!
