NEW to Leadership Breakfast Registration!
Registration for this event will be open from Monday, February 22 - Thursday, February 25. In this time we will allow as many people to sign up for the event as possible. There is no limit. From there we will have a lottery where we will choose 20 participants at random. This way we will be able to ensure everyone has a fair chance to attend a Leadership Breakfast event.
Our facilitator will reach out to all participants on Friday, February 26 letting everyone know whether or not they received a spot through the lottery.
A Little Bit About Our Executive Director:
A native of Canada, Dawne started her career at Hewlett-Packard where she worked for eight years in the area of sales support, financing and contracting.
Following her interests in youth and social service issues, she moved into the non-profit sector when she was hired as Director of Marketing and Community Engagement for what was known as the Volunteer Center of Edmonton.
Moving to the twin cities in 1996, she soon made her mark in the local non-profit sector. Recognized for her leadership and fundraising abilities, Ms. White’s career has included director-level positions with Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, Hands On Twin Cities, the University of Minnesota and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Upper Midwest.
In 2007, her philanthropic career took a new and upward turn when she accomplished a lifelong dream, establishing a non-profit dedicated to providing dental access to low income kids. Serving as Executive Director of Molar Express Minnesota, she created an infrastructure to bring together schools, health care professionals and other non-profits to improve the health of school-aged children. When the recession intervened, she returned to the University of Minnesota as a Chief of Staff and Grants Manager of the Institute on the Environment.
Tight budgets at the U prompted her to look elsewhere and she became the Executive Director of COMPAS, Inc. in 2013. Since then she has led a team of 8 employees and 100 artists who use the arts to unleash the creativity within all of us, so that we can create better lives and better communities. She led efforts to spin off a program, rebrand COMPAS and create a strategic plan, all while retaining current staff, engaging board members, and attracting new ones. She also spends a good part of her week expanding resources for COMPAS, her mantra “make sure more money comes in than is going out”.
She is married, and they have one son who is a dedicated high school basketball player convinced his goal is a D1 scholarship. Dawne is on the board of the Domestic Abuse Project, volunteers as a Girl Scout Leader and has started a Lean In Circle in Saint Paul. She loves to entertain as it’s the perfect opportunity to bake, try new recipes and enjoy unexpected conversations. She also spends a lot of her time with family in Canada.
