About The Leadership Breakfast Series
Looking to get to the next level in your nonprofit career? At YNPN Twin Cities' Leadership Breakfast series, nonprofit Executive Directors and other leaders will share with you exactly how they did it, what they learned and what they're looking for in a rising nonprofit leader.
A little bit about Muneer Karcher-Ramos, Director of The Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood:
Muneer Karcher-Ramos is the director of the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood, a transformative education initiative of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation that brings together families, schools, public agencies, and the community to change the odds for a generation of children. SPPN uses education as a tool to end multi-generational poverty in the Frogtown and Summit-University neighborhoods by creating early pathways of opportunities leading to college and career success. Muneer works with activists and civic leaders to transform urban education and address root causes to education inequities.
Prior to taking on the role of Director of the SPPN Muneer was a researcher with Wilder Research. He specializes in applying community- and culturally-valued approaches to working with communities who have historically been unheard, and often muted, in public programs and policy.
Prior to his work at Wilder, Muneer was with the Urban Education Institute at the University of Chicago. He also teaches in the Social Justice Minor Program at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Muneer serves on Generation Next’s leadership council, and on the boards of Minnesota Education Equity Partnership, ComMUSICation and the Headwaters Foundation for Justice. He is a past Kingston Fellow at the Wilder Foundation and a current fellow at the Cultural Wellness Center.
Leadership Breakfast Registration Lottery
Registration for this event will be open from Friday January 13 - Tuesday January 17. We allow as many people to sign up for the event as possible, and from there we choose 20 participants at random, while also holding space for young nonprofit professionals who identify as a person of color. We do this to keep these events intimate while ensuring everyone has a fair chance to attend a Leadership Breakfast event. If you registered for the lottery and identify as a person of color, you can email info@ynpntwincities.org to let us know to place your name in the correct lottery.
Our facilitator will reach out to all participants by Friday January 20 letting everyone know whether or not they received a spot through the lottery. Lottery winners will be asked to submit a question for our speaker in order to confirm their space. Unconfirmed spaces will be given to members of the wait list.
What you need to know:
- Our media sponsor, Pollen, will be at the event with a photographer and writer on hand.
- There will be a YNPN member on site to facilitate and help you get the most out of these discussions.
- Bagels and coffee are provided!
