Lucky for me and more than sixty YNPNers facing a dour and uncertain 2012, last Friday’s Nonprofit Forecast event was both portent and panacea as the sage words of Sheila Smith (Executive Director of Minnesota Citizens for the Arts) and Marcia Avner (Senior Fellow at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits) were unpacked and reimagined through the art of improv by the fine fellows of the Theater of Public Policy.

#ynpchat: Real Talk | Diversity

Diversity and the nonprofit sector’s struggles with it are on the minds of many young nonprofit professionals these days. With that in mind, YNPN Twin Cities made it a priority this year to carve out space to have those conversations. We kicked it off a couple months back with a very in-demand event about Race and Privilege in the Nonprofit Sector. And on June 1, we moved it online—cohosting the monthly Twitter #ynpchat (young nonprofit professionals chat) on the subject of diversity.

2011 YNPN National Leadership Conference: 20+ Faces, 20+ Takeaways

Some of us flew. Some us drove—10+ hours from the Twin Cities. And some of us took a brisk walk over to the 2011 Young Nonprofit Professionals Network National Leadership Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Regardless of the method, we all came with one overarching goal in mind: To become stronger leaders, a stronger network and ultimately a stronger sector.
