Stay Classy, Minnesota!

In late March, I attended the National YNPN Leaders Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan and learned about a unique relationship that the San Diego YNPN chapter began with The Classy Awards. The Classy Awards recognize the top philanthropic achievements by charities, businesses, fundraisers and volunteers from across the country, and last year they decided to partner with YNPN San Diego to honor an Outstanding Young Nonprofit Professional.

MCN Leadership Conference Reflections: Doing less with less...and being okay with it.

I usually find the experience of attending conferences to be refreshergizing. (That’s refreshing + energizing. As you’ll see, I like to use made-up words.) Having morphed from an extreme introvert in my youth into a fairly strong extrovert, I always jump at the chance to get out of the office and spend time with other people. Plus, I like reading conference programs to see breakout session topics, which are usually a good indicator of trends in the sector, and listening to the keynote presenters speak eloquently (most of the time) on issues that are relevant (most of the time). Last week’s Nonprofit Leadership Conference, presented by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute, was an excellent opportunity to do all of the above.
